The Organizing Committee of Ukrainian Social Forum was set up in Kiev on July 12, 2007. To the Organizing Committee were elected:
1. Chemerys Volodymyr, human rights activist, the head of of the “Republic” Institute;
2. Malinkovych Volodymyr, human rights activist, political scientist;
3. Yavorskiy Viktor, President of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Ukraine:
4. Petrychenko Petro, the General Secretary of the Independent Confederation of Trade Unions of Ukraine;
5. Ostapyuk Oleksandr, the President of an independent trade union “Rivnenshchyna” (Rivne);
6. Ishchenko Volodymyr, sociologist, the scientific secretary of the Ukrainian Labor History Society;
7. Agnishchenko Natalia, independent gender expert, Kiev;
8. Merezhko Oleksandr, Doctor of Jurisprudence, professor, leftist publicist;
9. Novikov Ihor, ecologist, the coordinator of the social campaign of defence of the river of Dnister;
10. Zadyraka Volodymyr, journalist;
11. Finko Anton, political scientist, the leading expert of Kiev Center of Political Studies and Conflictology;
12. Bey Ilya, the editor of the wev-site “POLITSOVET”, the coordinator or the regional committee of the Network of Civic Initiatives “BASTA” (Zaporizhya);
13. Tiran Iryna, the Chairman of the Civic Council of defence of freedom of speech “Media-rada”;
14. Vernyk Oleg, the Chairman of the independent trade union “Zakhyst Pratsi”;
15. Okhotin Petro, the Chairman of Student’s Trade Union of The National University “Kyiv-Mohyla academy”;
16. Movchan Andriy, the Coordinator of political and art-group “Avangard”;
17. Klymenko Pavlo, the Coordinator of protest students' actions, the Chairman of the students’
parliament of the Teachers' training institute by Grinchenko;
18. Demkiv Ihor, the Coordinator of the Network of civic initiatives “BASTA”;
19. Paliy Oleksandr, the editor of “Profsoyuznue Vesti” ("Trade Union news") newspaper;
20. Raush Petr, anarchist, political refugee (RF, St.-Petersburg);
21. Chaikovsky Myroslav, sociologist, an editor of livasprava.in.ua web-site;
The Organizing Committee defined the preliminary list of the main topics of discussion at Ukrainian Social Forum:
- labour and trade union movement, campaign against the reform of the Code of Labour Laws;
- gender equality and feminist movement;
- defence of human rights;
- antifascism;
- problems of Ukrainian migrant-workers and immigrants to Ukraine;
- Bolognian reform in education. Students’ movement;
- campaigns against privatization, reforms in the health protection system;
- neoliberal globalization and Ukraine;
- antiimperialism and antimilitarism. Threat to neutral status of Ukraine;
- perspectives of left politics in Ukraine;
- actual theoretical problems of the global anticapitalist movement;
- Ukrianian labour history
- problems of the state drug policy.
The Organizing Committee of Ukrainian Social Forum is open for entrance and coordinated action with all progressive social movements and persons; it is open to all ecological, labour, students’, trade union, LGBT initiatives and movements excluding those which propagate discrimination based on race, ethnic origin and gender.
